How to Pick a Casino Hotel That's Actually Worth the Weekend
Not every 'hotel with a casino' is worth the drive. Here's the checklist I run through before booking — and where Verano Resort lands on it.

I've stayed in casino hotels from Macau to the Gold Coast, and the difference between a great one and a grim one usually comes down to five things. None of them are 'how many pokies they have'.
1. The rooms have to work without the casino
If the room only makes sense because you're gambling downstairs, you're in the wrong place. A proper casino hotel works as a hotel first — blackout curtains, a shower with actual pressure, a bed you'd choose again. Our deluxe king rooms were designed on exactly that principle.
2. Food that isn't a food court
Look for at least one venue you'd visit even if you weren't staying. At Verano that's the signature restaurant — see the fine dining page for the current menu format.
3. The casino floor is attached, not inescapable
The best layout puts gaming near the action but not through it — you should be able to get from lift to lobby to breakfast without walking the floor. Ours sits off the west wing; the Stay & Play package exists for those who want it, and invisible for those who don't.

4. Recovery options
Pool, spa, a bar with decent wine — the things that fix a late night. Check the spa menu before you book any casino hotel; if they don't have one, that tells you something.
5. Honest pricing
Resort fees, parking fees, 'amenity charges' — the classics. Our price list is the whole list. What you see is what the checkout shows.
